Filling in the stock import template
What every column of the PowerEPOS Stock import template means, and how each one affects stocktakes, ordering, costing and recipes.

Filling in the stock import template
Preparing stock data for onboarding
The stock import template is how products, ingredients, purchase units, stocktake units and recipe components arrive in PowerEPOS Stock. Filled in accurately it sets the venue up correctly from day one; filled in loosely it has to be unpicked later. This is what each column means.

It covers everything you buy and count — packaged goods, fresh ingredients, beverages and recipe items alike.
PLU
The PLU number for the stock item. Where an item is sold and bought in the same unit — beers, wines — this should match the PLU number already in the POS. Where it is bought in a different unit — spirit bottles, food ingredients — give it a new PLU number, or leave it blank and Triniteq will allocate one when the file is processed.
Stock group
Used for reporting and analytics. Match the groups already configured in the POS where you can, to avoid duplicates; a new group name is created as part of the import.
Description
The name used on stock reports, purchase orders and stocktakes. Leave sizes and units out of it — they are managed separately. Use Peroni, not Peroni Keg.
How I get this stock
One of three:
- 1 — I purchase this item.
- 2 — I produce this item as I sell it, never storing it.
- 3 — I pre-produce this item.
Stocktake size and unit
The unit you want to count the item in and see it in on stocktake reports. Think about how it is used in a recipe too.
- Packaged beer is usually 1 × unit: you count cans and bottles.
- Tap beer is 1 × litre, so counts and discrepancies are in a standard unit.
- Wines and spirits are 750 × ml, by the bottle size — millilitres rather than units, because the POS sells them as a shot or a glass.
Purchase size, unit and descriptor
How you buy the item in, as a multiple of the stocktake size and unit. Tap beer is bought as a KEG (the descriptor) of 50 (the size) lt (the unit).
The two units must be the same kind
If you stocktake in litres, the purchase unit has to be a volume as well — litres or millilitres. A volume counted against a count of units cannot be reconciled.
Supplier SKU
The supplier's product code for the item, as it appears on their invoices.
Supplier name
The supplier you buy it from. One is enough for now — other suppliers can be added later from the POS.
Cost price
The current cost price, per stocktake size and unit.
Initial stock count
The starting count to set stock up with, per stocktake size and unit. Note the date and time the count is valid from.
